This week’s song, Morning Light, was primarily inspired by Psalm 30. The truth of David’s words here is very real to me. I have experienced many a night when I couldn’t sleep and out of nowhere, felt dark doubts and fears trying to overtake my mind.

My beloved mom went home to Jesus in the summer of 2013. As I grieved, I was reminded once again how short life on this earth really is. Yet, as this song says, “after a thousand years, You (God) will be with me for all eternity.” What a comfort this is! What a hope we have as Christians! I especially want to offer this song to those who have lost a loved one recently.

Though this is a fun and understated way of celebrating, it is heart felt! As we join with over 2 billion Christians around the world, let’s celebrate with profound happiness the joy that our Lord Jesus has indeed opened paradise!

This song is a prayer for God’s kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven. I remember my pastor Mark Pickerill once saying “when we pray for God’s kingdom to come, we’re praying that the activities of heaven will start happening here on earth.”

This song is a response of gratitude for God’s grace and a reminder that His love is not something we earn but simply thank him for! Bob Wilson composed the music and arranged the awesome horns which include a tuba!

This song is taken from Psalm 147 and was written in Jerusalem! The music was originally inspired when I had the idea for a thumb pick, finger-style pattern in which I play a separate bass line and rhythm pattern. It’s so fun to play! A few months later, my daughter Emmie and I videoed the song while in Hawaii.

I wrote this song for my daughter Emmie one day when she told me she was having a hard day at college. I texted this song back to her. It simply declares who and what Jesus is to us and how He is ever with us. For me, one of the great blessings of worship songs is that they help us declare and believe what is true about our God.
