This song is written from Exodus 15:26 “...for I am the Lord who heals you.”  When I was ten years old my mom was miraculously healed of a back injury. Because of a fall, she had surgery and three discs removed in the mid-1960’s, but her condition only worsened from there. During this season her pain was so great she could barely get out of bed in the morning and was becoming immobile.

This song is a declaration of an astounding truth of Christian faith... the God of the universe lives inside of us! 1 John 4:4 declares - “Greater is He who is IN me, than he who is in the world.” It’s hard to fathom but it is the promise of God’s Word. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is literally closer than the breath we breathe, giving us the desire and power to do his will.

I originally wrote this song in 1996 to accompany my pastor’s, Mark Pickerill, sermon with the same name. I am so humbled and grateful that God has chosen to use it as one of His instruments to reveal the Father's love and bring His healing.

This song, written directly from Psalm 51, is a prayer of confession and repentance. The word ”repent” seems to get a bad wrap. For some reason it can feel angry and harsh. Maybe we think of the street preacher who might be lacking in his ability to deliver the message with love and grace.

This song is simply a prayer asking for the power of the Holy Spirit to come to us personally and to our churches. The strongest word of this song is "YES.” This "yes" is a word of desire and surrender. Desire - Lord, we want more of who You are and what You have for us.
